After studying at the University of Ulster for his batchelors degree in physiotherapy, Jonathon gained experience in South Africa, USA and the UK. He began his career working in both the national health services of South Africa and the UK were he began specialising in the field of musculoskeletal. Jonathon has since, worked in the private health sector over the last 9 years.
Throughout his career, Jonathon has worked alongside an assortment of sports teams specialising in a variety of sports injury rehabilitation programmes. He also took a core stability class for 2 years which focused on strengthening the back and providing postural correction.
He has completed various post grad musculoskeletal courses, one of the most notable being a Post Cert certificate in Manual Therapy from Glasgow Caledonian. This is part of the MACP which is an elite organization of physiotherapists that ensures the highest standard of excellence in the treatment of muscle, joint and nerve problems. In fact only a very small percentage of Chartered Physiotherapist in the UK hold this qualification. He most recently has completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Manipulative Therapy allowing him to specialise in advanced manipulative techniques across the body.
Jonathon takes a keen interest in manual therapy, dry needling, electrotherapy, core stability, ergonomics, biomechanics and kinesiology testing.Most recently he has undertaken training in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging and with now having an Ultrasound scanner at the clinic helps making diagnosis of certain conditions even more precise. Throughout the years he has membership with the OCPPP (Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practise), aMACP, STO (Sports Therapy Organisation) ACPOHE (Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health & Ergonomics) and BMAS (Bristish Medical Acupuncture Society). He aims to provide an individualised treatment based on an holistic approach for the optimal results of each patient.
Chantal Lowry BSc (HONS)Phys, MCSP, SRP
Senior Physiotherapist, Gynae Specialist & Pilates Teacher
After studying at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, Chantal has worked in South Africa, England and now Northern Ireland.Chantal has worked with elite athletes including British and world superbike riders, footballers and with the Lions super 15 rugby team.
Chantal is one of our senior physiotherapists. Over the years she has specialised in musculoskeletal therapy in private practice working in a couple of the most elite sports and manual therapy clinics in England before joining ourselves.
Chantal also specialises in deep tissue massage applying effleurage, pettrissage, tapotment and transverse frictions to help break down painful adhesions in muscle tissue to ease tension, free tight muscles and eliminate waste. She also can provide Swedish massage for a more relaxing, stress release massage.
Her post graduate training includes manipulative therapy, dry needling, APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) pilates, kinetic control and injury prevention assessment amongst many others. She has a keen interest in manual therapy and sports injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Claudia studied in the Akademie für Gesundheitsberufe in the south east of Germany, graduating 2002 with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
She spent several years in a busy private practice near Graz, Austria and in the St. Josef Hospital in Braunau, Austria. On a career break from 2005 to 2007 she worked in the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen as a Senior Physiotherapist in the Outpatient Department, on the Stroke Unit and as the team lead in the Head Injury Department, before she returned to Braunau.
She has run different outpatient groups for patients with osteoporosis, MS, continence classes and back to shape groups for young mothers.
Claudia moved back to Northern Ireland in September 2009 working part-time in the Royal Victoria Hospital and Mater Hospital with neurological and complex rehab patients alongside with her private practise in Ballygowan. While on maternity leave she spent a few years in Germany, working part time in a busy private practice specialising in young children and babies.
Claudia and her family returned to Northern Ireland in 2015 and she has been on our team since June 2015.
While working in Austria, Germany and Ireland, Claudia has continued her professional development with a wide variety of specialised courses. She completed her Manual Therapy Training (Maitland Concept) with a diploma in 2005 and gained a diploma for the Bobath Concept in 2006. She has since completed several courses for working with neurological and musculoskeletal patients. She has done several specialised courses towards a diploma with the Craniofacial Therapy Academy (CRAFTA) to help patients with problems in the craniocervical, craniomandibular and craniofacial region (Tinnitus, headaches, cerebral palsy, jaw pain etc)
Claudia also holds a certificate in dry needling and is an APPI approved Pilates instructor.

Following his completion of the BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of Liverpool, Matthew decided to return to his home in Northern Ireland to practise as a Physiotherapist.
During his time at university, Matthew had the opportunity to work with elite athletes at the professional Rugby League club Widnes Vikings. This was in edition to much experience within a range of areas in the NHS. However, musculoskeletal physiotherapy is the area which Matthew has chose to specialise in.
Matthew is also a qualified personal trainer, and since graduating, he has worked in a Belfast-based gym, providing the highest quality training to those of all backgrounds; regardless of their training goals or abilities. He has also provided physiotherapy care at Malone Rugby Club, helping players with pre-match taping, as well as massage and injury advice. Additionally, Matthew is qualified to perform dry needling.
Matt likes to add his advanced knowledge of strength, condition training and nutrition into formulating his physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes and treatment.
Outside of Physiotherapy, Matthew is a keen sportsman himself, having played rugby to a high level in the past. Fishing, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family are also things that Matt enjoys doing in his spare time.
Simon Collins BSc (Hons) Podiatry HPC Registered Podiatrist/ Chiropodist
Simon studied at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and has also worked within the NHS. His last 4 years have been spent working in the private sector.
Simon loves all area’s of podiatry but has a special interest in bio mechanics (insoles) and nail surgery.
Simon joined the team here at Active Therapy in November 2015. “They have made me very welcome and I am enjoying my time here as I can work closely along side the Physiotherapists to ensure the best outcome for patients, I strive for clinical excellence in a welcoming friendly atmosphere”
Sharon Ward BA (HONS) HRM & Marketing, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
Sharon graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a batchelors degree in human resource management and marketing and as a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Sharon has worked with both large and small public and private sector organisations in the UK as a Human Resources consultant for over five years and has a keen interest in health and wellbeing in the workplace.
As Practice Manager, Sharon will deal with all queries from providing information on treatments available to booking appointments and arranging payment or health insurance. Sharon is also responsible for marketing and advertising, finance and business development, and is the key contact for individuals, businesses and sports clubs.
Rachelle deals with the day to day running of the clinic and is key contact for health insurance. Along with Sharon the practice manager, Rachelle is involved in the marketing and advertising of the clinic which includes social media, offers and promotions and business development. Rachelle also works closely with staff members to ensure the clinic runs efficiently and effectively.

As a counsellor Latifa regularly sees young people and adults in distress due to disturbing or traumatic life experiences. Such disturbances can often create difficulties which seem insurmountable, bringing us to a place of confusion, loneliness and isolation.
